The Simpkins Lee Theatre has been described as a 'little gem'. Built in 2010 with the character and detailing of an earlier era, it has the fully equipped tech booth of a modern theatre. A sweeping, decorative ceiling of carved wood provides dramatic flourish, in keeping with the neo-classical style of the surrounding Pipe Partridge building.
The elegant design of our 150 seat, raked lecture theatre offers a distinctive backdrop for conference speakers and theatrical productions. Painted wrought ironwork gives the theatre a timeless quality, while a built in projection room and integral AV system provide 21st century conference services. Adjoining the theatre is a foyer area, which is ideal for registrations, and which links with the Monson Room, an attractive and sizeable function room. Also nearby is the Amanda Foreman Room, which is often used as a ‘green room’ in support of theatrical productions. The Theatre is located within the Pipe Partridge building, which houses 64 modern en suite bedrooms available for residential conferences during University vacations.
