This lovely room is lined with classical pillars supporting a fine arched ceiling. Huge sash windows provide a view of the College gardens, where flower beds are, bordered by a leafy vista of trees including a magnificent copper beech. The elegant styling and grand size of the Old Library make it a dramatic and memorable backdrop for drinks receptions and special occasions.
The Old Library is 15.3m long by 7.7m wide. It is in a quiet location on the second floor of the Talbot Building, up a wide stone staircase and near to Talbot Hall and the Mary O’Brien room. Due to the impressive setting the Old Library is often used for drinks receptions, but it also works well as a seminar or lecture room.
